Directions to Summer Camp (2015) site

Summer Camp 2015

Location: Lough Lene, Collinstown, Co. Westmeath

Drop off point: Collinstown

GPS: 53°38’51.00”N 7°12’45.00”W (Village)

Directions:

• Take N4 to Mullingar
• Exit at Junction 17 signposted Castlepollard/Mullingar
• At top of ramp turn right on to R394 signposted Castlepollard
• Go straight through roundabout
• Continue on R394 through Crookedwood
• Approx 2km past Crookedwood turn right signposted Collinstown
• Keep on this road (some sharp bends) following signposts to Collinstown
• When you reach to village you will be continuing straight through the crossroads
onto the Lake Road
• Stop in the village and telephone one of the leaders. The entrance to the site is a few hundred meters beyond the village. However, it is a good distance off the road and access is through private land. Arrange for one of the leaders to meet you and take you to the site.

Manannan Summer Camp Gear List

Hi guys,

Manannan will be camping from Friday, July 17 until Sunday, July 26 on Loch Lene in Collinstown near Mullingar. Here is a gear list of everything the guys will need for the camp.

Full scout uniform (neckerchief, jumper, belt, whistle, knife and navy trousers)

Manannan hoodie and t shirt

Hiking boots

Rain gear

Enough clothes for ten days (tshirts, shorts, boxers, socks, etc.)

Boating gear (buoyancy aid, shorts, boating shoes etc.)

Towel

Sun hat and sun cream

1l water bottle

Sleeping bag

Ground mat

Warm jumper/fleece

Wah gear (toothbrush, soap, toothpaste etc.)

Torch

2x tea towel

Bivy bag

No more than €10 spending money

NO MOBILE PHONES. THEY WILL BE CONFISCATED.

All electronic equipment is brought at scouts own risk and may only be used in the tent at night.

Manannan Swim Test

Manannán News

Hi guys

Swim test is this Friday. All scouts must complete this if they wish to go boating. Scouts must complete the swim test in shorts/togs, tshirt and boating shoes (no flip flops or crocks).

Make you also have a towel and full scout uniform.

Manannan Easter Camp

Hi all,

As you are aware we will be camping in Powerscourt from Good Friday (April 3) until Easter Monday (April 6). Many of you have already paid the €10 deposit but for those who haven’t, we will need it tis Friday. The balance is also due which is a further €15. Lifts and times for departure and collection will be organized over the coming days. I attach a gear list which I strongly recommend the scouts follow.

Ground Mat

Rain gear (top and bottoms)

Suitable clothing for three days (jumper, trousers, tshirt etc.)

No more than €5 spending money

Hostelling Gear List

Hi guys,

Here is a list of gear needed for the hostelling weekend (Friday 27 February to Sunday 1 March). The total cost for the weekend is €40 (incl. €10 deposit) which will be collected next Friday. We will be staying in Glendalough for the two nights. All scouts going hostelling must return their consent forms.
